Didn't I just get done talking about virtual servers managed on giant clusters? Then whaddya know - VMWare goes out and starts giving away their vmware server as....FLOSS!

Check out the virtual appliances (m0n0wall and FreeNAS are both there) at VMTN.
I like this quote from Mendel Rosenblum. He agrees with you on the clusters of virtual appliances idea: "Right now, people bring up a server and give it some name so they can personalize it. That will be gone in 10 years. You'll no longer think of a server as being something other than how you think of a disk in a disk array today."
